We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help our families, communities, and economy, by allowing millions of people who have lived in our communities for decades, and who are vital to our country, the ability to earn citizenship. The House of Representatives must pass the Dream and Promise Act now.

People across America have seen first-hand the vital role of immigrants — specifically undocumented immigrants — in helping our communities survive the pandemic. Nearly one million Dreamers are essential frontline workers. Their contributions are vital to our nation’s continued public health and economic recovery from COVID-19. Without a pathway to citizenship, they remain at risk of being ripped out of their jobs and separated from their families.

The Dream and Promise Act would provide a permanent pathway to citizenship to over three million Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure recipients.

The American people are more than ready for the House of Representatives to put undocumented immigrants on a pathway to citizenship.The House must pass this crucial bill For Our Families.

House Democrats voted in November 2021 in support of millions of American families by passing the Build Back Better Act. The immigration relief included in this bill will ensure that millions of undocumented immigrants who have been in the U.S. for an average of 20 years will be able to access work permits and protection from deportation, keeping them safe and together with their loved ones and allowing them to continue to contribute to our country and our communities. Now, it is up to President Biden and Senate Democrats must ensure that immigration relief is in the final legislation.

For years Congress has failed to deliver the pathway to citizenship that we all know is desperately needed and millions and millions of people across America deserve so much better than this. Democrats have an obligation to take any and all steps necessary to ensure they do not allow this moment to be another failure. Now the Senate must finish the job. No more excuses.
