FWD.us Statement to Question on DACA Recipients Contributing to the COVID19 Response

WASHINGTON, DC – FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement after Vice President Mike Pence said he was “inspired” by the DACA recipients who are essential workers on the frontlines of the response to COVID-19.
“If the President is actually so inspired by DACA recipients on the front lines of this crisis, he can and should drop his appeal at the Supreme Court and stop trying to deport 700,00 DACA recipients, including the hundreds of thousands who are essential workers risking their lives to help their communities

“The only reason DACA recipients are at risk is because President Trump terminated DACA. He doesn’t need Congress to take action, he has the power to drop his appeal and protect DACA recipients right now.”

More than 200,000 DACA recipients are serving as essential workers in the midst of the coronavirus crisis in vital roles such as grocery and food service, sanitation, and supply chain logistics. These essential workers also include nearly 30,000 DACA recipients working in healthcare on the frontlines helping our communities survive this crisis.
