FWD.us Statement on President Trump’s Decision to Halt COVID Pandemic Relief Efforts

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, President Trump announced his intention to end negotiations on stimulus legislation that would provide health and financial relief for millions of struggling families across America and small businesses in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement:

“Amidst a once-in-a-century public health and economic crisis – with over 210,000 Americans dead, tens of millions out of work or working under crisis, approximately half of school-aged kids not in school, and daily COVID infection numbers at the highest level in months – the President of the United States has unilaterally decided to ensure no more legislation and economic relief will come for millions of struggling families across America.

“Instead of the bold, inclusive economic and public health relief desperately needed in a moment of crisis, the President has decided to tell over 300 million people in this country that they are on their own.

“This is a terrible decision with severe consequences for families across America.

“We thank the Speaker and all those – inside the halls of Congress and in every part of America – who have recognized the urgent nature of this crisis, and have worked constructively and tirelessly to support everyone across this country.”
