“This latest and entirely outrageous leaked news from the Parliamentarian—-for a proposal that the Senators designed to meet the Parliamentarian’s objections to the prior decisions—is deeply wrong and disappointing.

“We will be reading this decision closely, but to be clear, this was the result of a formal Byrd Bath — but it absolutely by no means can or should be the final Byrd Bath. Despite our deepest disappointment to her objections to parts of this proposal, we call on the Senators not to take no for an answer.

“Millions and millions of Americans deserve so much better than this — and with unified control of government, Democrats have an obligation to take all steps necessary to ensure protections are included in this legislation.

“The Build Back Better legislation is unfortunately not passing this year—and while this is itself a regret—President Biden and Democratic Senators must use this time to ensure immigration protections for millions are included in the Build Back Better legislation. The consequences of failure are disastrous and will echo for years and years to come.”
