FWD.us Statement on Including Mixed-Status Georgia Families in HEROES Act Relief

ATLANTA, GA — FWD.us Georgia State Director Sam Aguilar released the following statement today on new data showing that hundreds of thousands of people in Georgia stand to benefit from inclusion in federal relief efforts in the latest proposed coronavirus aid legislation, the HEROES Act:

“The HEROES Act would include desperately-needed relief for roughly 488,000 Georgia residents living in mixed-status families in our state, who to-date have been excluded from pandemic relief stimulus payments – including 176,000 kids and spouses who are U.S. citizens or green card holders. Both parties must come together to help people who are suffering; when every person living in the U.S. has been hit hard by this pandemic, immigration status shouldn’t determine who is eligible for life-saving aid. We hope elected representatives in both the House and the Senate will pass this bill without delay, to help all families who are struggling in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.”
