TALLAHASSEE, FL — FWD.us Florida State Director Ted Hutchinson issued the following statement today after the Infrastructure & Security Committee advanced SB 168 out of committee:

“We are deeply concerned that SB 168 has advanced through the Infrastructure & Security Committee because this legislation would hurt Florida families and damage Florida’s economy. This harmful bill is a ‘solution’ in search of a problem that will burden law enforcement officers, separate parents, and children, and cripple tourism, all without making Floridians safer or creating a single job.

“Local community law enforcement know best how to do the serious work of keeping Florida residents safe and Tallahassee lawmakers shouldn’t restrict them from doing their jobs. We urge elected officials who are committed to keeping Florida safe and prosperous to reject this damaging legislation.”
