FWD.us Statement on Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019

WASHINGTON, DC – FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement today on the passage by Congress of the bipartisan appropriations legislation, which failed to include permanent protections for Dreamers and TPS holders who continue living under the threat of deportation:

“While today’s passage by Congress of the seven remaining appropriations bills will avert the immediate crisis of another government shutdown, which is welcome news, Congress has yet again missed an opportunity to provide permanent protections for Dreamers and TPS holders.

“These vulnerable populations’ lives have been thrown into chaos due to the actions of the Trump Administration, and over a million of individuals – and the millions who comprise their loved ones, neighbors, and colleagues – are at risk of having their lives torn further apart without urgent action from Congress.

“Both the House and the Senate should immediately pass bipartisan legislation that gives Dreamers and TPS holders the permanent solution they deserve and that strengthens our entire country.”
