FWD.us Statement in Support of H.R. 549, TPS for Venezuela

Washington, DC — FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement today on H.R. 549, legislation that would be Temporary Protective Status (TPS) to citizens of Venezuela currently in the United States:

"FWD.us strongly supports H.R. 549, critical bipartisan legislation introduced by Congressman Darren Soto (D-FL) and Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), which would provide temporary protective status to people from Venezuela currently on the United States. As President Trump and the Administration has said repeatedly, the country of Venezuela is in the midst of a dramatic political upheaval, resulting in massive shortages of food and medical supplies, and extended power outages. Deporting people back to the country at this time would put lives in extreme danger. A grant of temporary protective status is clearly warranted and would allow Venezuelan citizens currently in the US to remain for 18 months, while the situation on the ground improves. We urge every member of Congress to support this bipartisan legislation."
