Oklahoma’s criminal justice system is in crisis.
The state has the highest incarceration rate in the country and the world, and its prisons are operating over capacity.
State leaders are voting on reforms that will safely reduce prison and jail populations, and ensure Oklahoma is no longer number one in the world for incarceration.
Together these reforms will:
- Safely reduce Oklahoma’s prison population by 17 percent by 2028
- Keep families together
- Ensure that Oklahoma’s tax dollars are spent wisely
- All five reforms must pass this legislative session so that Oklahoma no longer leads the world in incarceration.
It’s time for state leaders to vote these criminal justice reforms into law immediately.
