Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed the Green Light NY bill into law.

As a result, New York State stands to earn an estimated $57 million in combined annual revenues and $26 million in one-time revenues.

This new law will make roads safer for everyone, by ensuring that all drivers are appropriately licensed, registered, insured, and able to get their cars inspected.

Additionally, the New York Greenlight law will make communities across the state safer, freeing up law enforcement to concentrate on real public safety priorities.

This measure will give every New Yorker, regardless of immigration status, who goes through the process and examination required by the state a chance to apply for a driver’s license. This includes taking a driver’s education course, passing a driving test, and providing proof of New York State residency.
