By now, you’ve probably read about the tens of thousands of children being held in detention at the border, under unacceptably poor conditions. Our criminal and juvenile justice systems have a long and terrible history of jailing kids. We must be vigilant in fighting back in those systems and in this recent and terrifying expansion in the immigration system.
This is a crisis, and the United States government is breaking its own laws by ignoring the terms of the Flores Settlement Agreement — a law under which detained children are supposed to be protected.
