WASHINGTON, D.C. — FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement today following the Senate’s proposed plan to move reconciliation this week:
“Voters are rightly outraged by this administration’s approach to mass deportation and cruelty to immigrants. Last year’s reconciliation bill provided an unprecedented $170B to ICE and CBP — supercharging and pre-funding these agencies to tragic results.
“Throwing up to $140B more at ICE and CBP is a terrible policy and wildly out of step with the American public. Any vote in favor of this bill is a vote to spend hundreds of billions to terrorize communities rather than restoring cuts to Medicaid and health care or supporting policies to make life more affordable for families. We strongly encourage every member of Congress to reject this approach and the budget resolution.”
