FWD.us Statement On The House Of Representatives Passage Party-Line $70 Billion for ICE & CBP Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement today on the House of Representatives passage of a massive $70 billion funding package for ICE AND CBP along party lines.

“At a time when voters remain rightly outraged at ICE, providing hundreds of billions of dollars to ICE and CBP to terrorize communities and tear families apart while the cost of living rises and health care funding is slashed is both a stunning policy failure, and incredibly unpopular with voters.

“Providing a quarter trillion dollars to an administration promising that the public “ain’t seen shit yet,” when it comes to mass deportation is a historic mistake. Disapproval rating of ICE remains at all-time highs, voters could not be more clear they oppose these efforts and this administration’s all-of-government approach to this cruelty, rather than focusing on addressing the skyrocketing cost of living. Supercharging the funding for these already out of control systems will come with terrible human consequences and continue to be met with increasing opposition from voters.

“In the past half year, the public has remained rightly outraged by this administration’s tactics, and as Democrats held the line up and said ICE and CBP had enough money and didn’t need more, the public has rallied behind them. As we look to the future, the efforts not only to claw back these funds, but to build a more humane and fair immigration system that provides legal status to those building their lives here is an absolute imperative, and one to which we commit ourselves.”
