WASHINGTON, D.C. – FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement on the continued delay of DACA renewals and the massive human and economic impact:
“For more than a decade, nearly every DACA renewal was processed within a couple weeks. Starting last year, that changed and renewals took nearly three months: tens of thousands of recipients faced delays or a serious risk of them. Now more than 100,000 people are stuck waiting, with renewals that once took weeks taking seven to nine months. This is deliberate, and it’s pushing people out of their jobs and toward deportation through no fault of their own. Congress must demand answers from DHS and insist that no one with a pending renewal loses their work authorization or faces deportation because of the government's own delays. We call on DHS and the president to immediately correct this issue and publicly report their progress.”
