Alida Garcia Promoted to Vice President of Advocacy at FWD.us

WASHINGTON, DC – FWD.us is very happy to announce that Alida Garcia has been promoted to Vice President of Advocacy, a testament to her tireless work and outstanding leadership over more than five years with the organization. Alida served until recently as the Director of Coalitions and Policy, leading the FWD.us team’s overall strategy and work, including around key legislative fights and working with a diverse array of partner organizations and allies across the political spectrum. Garcia has been a champion for Dreamers, the undocumented community, and all immigrants and refugees to the U.S., as well as a relentless advocate for the care of vulnerable families navigating our nation’s badly broken immigration and criminal justice systems.

“Alida is great. We are grateful every day to call Alida our teammate and friend, and her contributions to FWD.us — since day one of our organization’s founding — are truly countless,” said FWD.us President Todd Schulte. “In her five plus years with the FWD.us family, Alida has been on the frontlines every day, working tirelessly. She’s a true leader. She’s wise and courageous — and one need look no further than her recent efforts leading the Flights for Families initiative that directly supported 1,300 people separated at the border from their families. She’s a mentor to so many who has built so many leaders around her. We wouldn’t be here without her. Fighting to fix our immigration and criminal justice systems is really hard — but there is simply no one you want more in this fight with you than Alida. On behalf of our entire organization and the countless people who know and respect her, we’re so excited for this new role. We know she will continue to lead and inspire our team in this new role as Vice President of Advocacy.”
