HB 1352 needs to be strengthened to address some of the drivers of Mississippi’s bloated incarcerated and supervised population.

Mississippi has the third highest incarceration rate in the nation.

There are better ways to prevent crime than filling our jails and prisons. Mississippi’s imprisonment rate is 57% higher than the national average, and yet crime has been falling more slowly here.

We deserve meaningful criminal justice reforms affecting bail, sentencing, and supervision. By making changes we can expand opportunity and reduce our incarceration rates.
