WASHINGTON, D.C. — FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement today on Colorado Governor Jared Polis’ guidance to the state’s counties, municipalities, law enforcement agencies, and detention centers, to limit and prevent the spread of COVID-19:
“Governor Polis gets it. His clear guidance to reduce arrests and the number of people being put into jails and prisons is absolutely smart public policy and the right public health to protect everyone across Colorado. Reducing law enforcement and incarceration, and understanding that jails and prisons are vectors for transmission during a pandemic makes everyone safer, and we thank him for his leadership.”
Background
Governor Polis today took action to prioritize the health, well-being, and safety of all Coloradans by issuing first-in-the-nation guidance directing Colorado’s counties, cities, law enforcement agencies, and detention centers to reduce arrests and incarceration in the state.
