Chicago has always been a city of tremendous opportunity for the millions of immigrants who set forth to America in search of a better life. As such it has one of the richest histories of immigration among cities in the United States, with waves of Irish, German, Russian, Slavic, and Italian immigrants through the early 20th century and growing numbers of Asian and Latin American immigrants since.
Chicago continues to have one of the largest and most diverse immigrant populations in the nation, and still benefits greatly from their contributions to the region. Our Chicago FWD.us chapter is here to help highlight these contributions as well as the city’s renowned history of diversity.
