Call your Legislator: Make State Question 780 Retroactive

In 2016, Oklahoma voters passed State Question 780, which made drug possession a misdemeanor no longer punishable by a prison sentence. But the measure only applied in future cases. There are still nearly 1,000 people serving long sentences for crimes that are now misdemeanors, and around 65,000 people living with felony records for simple drug possession.

HB 1269 and SB 357 would correct this problem by making SQ 780 apply to past cases. Let’s make sure no Oklahomans are left behind.
