We are encouraged that Governor Cuomo and lawmakers in the Senate and Assembly are considering passing legislation to eliminate money bail. But they need to hear that all legislation is not created equal – New Yorkers deserve real bail reform that genuinely protects the presumption of innocence, significantly drives down jail populations and makes pretrial jailing the exception, not the rule.
