Meet Vicente: Farmworker feeding America during COVID-19

Congress: Pass the Farm Workforce Modernization Act in the First 100 Days

Vicente has been working as a farm worker since he was 12 alongside his family in the Central Valley of California. His dad worked 14-hour days so Vicente and siblings could have a better education, which he was able to do as a DACA recipient. He’s proud to provide not only for his family, but also for America. Working with parents on weekends and during holiday has helped him appreciate their time and sacrifices.

Vicente and his family are part of the 1 million immigrant farm workers. They’ve helped keep all of us safe, healthy, and fed at great personal risk to themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we won’t have a successful economic or public health recovery without them.

They’re already living, working, and contributing to our communities and our country every single day – and have millions of U.S.-citizen family members, all of whom, like Vicente and his family, are at risk when their loved ones lack legal status. Congress must act to pass the Farm Workforce Modernization Act in the first 100 days to give farm workers a pathway to citizenship.
