Silicon Valley #ThinkFWD: The Future of Talent

April 03, 2014 at 6:30pm

1065 La Avenida St
Building 1 - Saturn/Jupiter Room
Mountain View, CA 94043
United States

Since its founding, the United States has grown stronger by attracting the best and brightest from around the world. The current skilled-labor shortage — particularly for workers in science, technology, engineering and math occupations — puts the United States at a disadvantage. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a shortfall of more than 200,000 advanced degree STEM holders by 2018. This panel will discuss two approaches to more effectively produce 21st century talent: 1) modernizing education to meet the needs of a modern economy, and 2) reforming legal immigration for workers.

Joining us on the panel will be

Brian Greenberg CEO and Board Member of Silicon Schools Fund

Ryan Burke Director of Jobs and Workforce at Hope Street Group

Dan Carroll Co-Founder and COO at Clever

Michael Bernick Counsel at Sedgwick LLP and former Director of the Employment Development Department for the State of California

moderated by Lily Li, Developer & Platform Evangelism Marketing Manager at Microsoft
