Let’s close out the month of February and usher in Super Tuesday in a lovely fashion. This intimate event features panelists discussing the intersections of love and immigration, including topics like dating while “DACAmented”/undocumented, family separation, and finding love across borders. So bring lovers and friends for some great conversation, networking and some food and drink.

Julia Barajas is a reporter and student at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, where she focuses on the criminalization of labor and on policies that engender the separation of families. Prior to moving to New York, she worked as a coordinator at a public school in Los Angeles that serves the children of Latin American and Filipino immigrants. Julia is the daughter of two undocumented Mexican immigrants to whom she owes everything.
Marjorie Kauffmann-Plessy is a Marketing Manager at MPOWERD, a tech startup dedicated to producing game-changing personal micro-renewable energy products to end energy poverty. Prior to joining MPOWERD, Marjorie co-founded a fashion technology startup and worked three years in investment banking. Originally from France, Marjorie earned her B.A. cum laude in Economics at Vassar College. She is also a Mentor Coach & Young Leadership Board member at America Needs You.
Rishi Jain is Vice President of Special Situations at Cross River Group LLC, a co-investment platform focused on extraordinary companies and projects where we can act in a principal capacity alongside management. We focus on capital formation, advisory, and business development. Rishi specifically acts as lead analyst for assessing the viability of all situations brought in front of Cross River, and is integral in guiding investments to successful conclusions. Prior to Cross River, Rishi was Head Trader and led the Special Situations Desk at Great Oaks Capital Management, a $250mm long/short hedge fund. A native of Toronto, Canada, Rishi earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. Rishi holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Cris Mercado In Spring 2016, Cris launched KeyJargon.com, the easy-to-use mobile app + online platform that empowers users with keywords, key industry data, and key opportunities to launch careers. He made it to Ph.D. study debt-free, as an undocumented student. He has also helped hundreds of students earn +$1 million in scholarships/grants and admission to top colleges. Cris serves as an Ambassador for FWD.us NYC, and a Mentor Coach and Young Leadership Board Member of America Needs You.
